Ms. Loucine Hayes is an international development executive and independent consultant with 25 years’ executive experience on four continents in 27 countries. She has extensive experience in curriculum development, educational program delivery, and the management of rural initiatives. She worked at international NGOs in leadership positions and led large U.S. government agency during period of rapid growth. She has expertise in executive leadership and international development, education and public health, training and teaching, multilateral and bilateral donors, funds and foundations strategic and operational development, budget development, inter-organizational communications and strong partnerships.
Within the academic setting, she contributed to the establishment of a women’s college in Hail, Saudi Arabia, while at the same time developing curricula and course materials for business English and management courses at that institution. Later, working with World Vision Armenia, she established training and development courses in education, health, business development and nutrition. Other initiatives include developing short-term courses for housing microfinance, budgeting and financial management, strategic decision-making and negotiations for Habitat for Humanity’s Europe and Central Asia’s regional programs, and as Country Director for Peace Corps Uganda, she redesigned the training and development department and raised funds through Global Education Fund and Feed the Future to develop a literacy lab that provided ongoing teacher training for local teachers throughout the East Africa region.
Ms. Hayes has a MBA from the Edinburgh Business School and Bachelor’s in Foreign Languages from the Yerevan State Linguistic University as well as TEFL/TESL certificate from University of Utah.

With her experience in project design, development, planning, and implementation, Anahit Ghazaryan manages the day-to-day operations of Open Education and works closely with faculty and staff. Anahit also coordinates projects such as the Ministry of Education’s post-graduate English prep courses, and TOEFL iBT exams.
Anahit has over 25 of years of experience as an Industrial Engineer, Operations Manager, Program Coordinator, trainer, and facilitator. She has nine years of teaching experience in entrepreneurship, is passionate about empowering women, and established the Women’s Entrepreneurship Promotion and Empowerment Center NGO.

Gohar Armenakyan coordinates courses in the regions of Armenia, namely Dilijan, Gyumri, Yeghegnadzor and Stepanakert, and manages recruitment for English courses as well as certificate programs in the regions in Tourism and Hospitality and Strategic Business Management. She is also an administrator of the TOEFL iBT, SAT, LSAT tests.
Gohar graduated from Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences, Department of Foreign Languages, in 2007. In 2015, she received a Graduate Certificate in Translation from AUA. She is currently studying in AUA’s MA in Political Science and International Affairs program, class of 2017.

Anna Gradlyan manages the planning and coordination of professional courses and is responsible for the administration of tests and test centers.
Prior to joining AUA Open Education, Anna worked at the Union of Communities of Armenia, the Political Science and International Affairs Program at AUA, and was engaged in several research projects and program evaluations with the Turpanjian Center for Policy Analysis.
Anna is a graduate of AUA, with an MA in Political Science and International Affairs. She has completed a fellowship program at the Caucasus Research Resource Centers and an internship program in Civic Development and Partnership Foundation within the framework of a UNDP program.

Anna Maghakyan is a Program Coordinator at the American University of Armenia Open Education. Since April 2018 Anna coordinates the entire process of organization of standardized tests, both local and international (TOEFL iBT, SAT and SAT Subject, ACT, LSAT, Placement test, etc.) as Test Center Supervisor/Administrator. She is the Manager of PROMETRIC Test Center as well.

Karen Baghdoian is an administrative professional responsible for managing the flow of the office and the front desk, creating processes and systems to enhance AUA Open Education operations.
She was representative of an airline at Zvartnots Armenia International Airport. Recently, she is the owner and founder of her own online travel agency in Armenia after gaining practical knowledge in that scope for 3 years. In addition, she has work experience as an administrative supervisor for high school students.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in educational administration and methods of teaching. She specialized in her fifth year as an administrative supervisor.
Karen is also a researcher with one publication related to the socio-economic factors and their impact on academic achievement. She is one of the diaspora Armenians. She traveled for the first time to the motherland in 2015, without knowing it will be a one-way ticket with no turn back.

Gohar Minasyan is the Coordinator of the AUA Open Education in Gyumri and a General English course instructor.
Gohar has been working as a program representative and an English language instructor at the AUA Open Education office in Gyumri since 2008. During those eight years, she held both teaching and administrative positions.
In 2006, Gohar participated in a forum organized by ATHGO International Corporation, along with the US Embassy and the UN. She became an Excellence Scholarship Winner, and participated in the Third Annual Global Forum in Geneva, Switzerland in 2007. Additionally, she has participated in many seminars, workshops, and forums to enhance her knowledge and gain qualification in various areas.
Gohar graduated from AUA with an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Prior to that, she obtained her first MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (second language French) from Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute.

Eduard Shahinyan is the coordinator of AUA Open Education in Vanadzor. He is responsible for building and maintaining strong and lasting relationships with general public and AUA Open Education corporate clients. He deals with planning and coordination of new courses, and identifies individuals’ and companies’ market demand for trainings. Eduard is a graduate of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, Vanadzor Branch of Economics and Management of Enterprise with BA. Now he is studying for Master’s Degree in Economics and Management of Enterprise at the same university.
Hayarpi Aghakhanyan, the coordinator of the AUA Open Education in Yeghegnadzor, is responsible for the entire process of the organization of Open Education courses in Yeghegnadzor. Before joining AUA Open Education, she worked for Syunik-Development NGO as training coordinator, as well as for Christian Education Department of Mother See of Holy Eetchmiadzin as coordinator of Vayotz Dzor Region. Since 2006 during eight years she gave lectures on Philosophy, Logic, and Ethics in ”Gitelik” University, Yeghegnadzor.
She has Ph.D. degree in the field of Philosophy. She graduated from Yerevan State University, the faculty of Philosophy and Psychology and got both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the field of philosophy.
She has attended a range of workshops, debates, discussions and scientific conferences in Armenia and outside the country. The last one was a two-week Summer Academy on “The role of Churches and Faith-Based organizations for sustainable development”, organized by Bread for the World, Berlin, Germany, 2018.
She is also the author of academic publications: she has published nine scientific articles in scientific journals.

Vardan Avagyan is the Coordinator of AUA Open Education in Dilijan. Since October 2016 Vardan has been covering the entire process of organization of extension courses in Dilijan. Vardan Avagyan has Master of Science in Economics from AUA and a Bachelor’s degree from the European Regional Educational Academy of Software Engineering Department. He has over ten years of management experience in ICT companies and in the Central Bank of Armenia.

Nonna Poghosyan joined American University of Armenia first as Turpanjian Rural Development Progamme’s Project Manager for Artsakh, and later as AUA Open Education Coordinator in Stepanakert. She has also been teaching English in AUA Open Education in Stepanakert.
Nonna’s prior professional experience includes work with National Heritage Foundation, as well as representing Artsakh at the MITT International Tourism Exhibition in Moscow and the AWTTEE in Beirut, Lebanon.
She has worked on publication of “Discovered Paradise” Guide among a number of maps, guide books and tourist brochures on Artsakh.

Ms. Magda Arzakanyan was granted her first MA degree (diploma) by Yerevan State Institute of Foreign Languages. In 1995, she completed the first one-year TEFL Certificate Program at AUA. In 2002, she earned her MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language at AUA. The topic of her MA thesis was the role of motivation in learning based on extensive class observations and her personal professional experience. In 2006, she participated in a highly competitive research and faculty development program for university professors funded by US government. As one of the 5 winners, she spent six months at Kansas University, School of Education, as a visiting scholar in the field of Higher Education Administration and Management.
Besides teaching Magda has worked as interpreter-facilitator for World Bank funded educational projects, which has enhanced her expertise in various aspects of teaching and learning such as assessment, curriculum development, education management, etc. Within the framework of these projects she has worked with distinguished international experts of western education.
Since the completion of the Certificate program in 1995 she teaches at AUA Open Education where she is a senior teacher of General English and TOEFL. Magda was one of the first English language specialists who developed the syllabus and materials for teaching TOEFL iBT and is certified by the ETS as TOEFL iBT instructor.
Ms. Parandzem Badalyan teaches General English and IBT courses at AUA Open Education.
She holds an MA degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from TEFL, AUA and an MA degree in English Philology, Teaching, Translation/Interpretation from Romance and Germanic Languages Department of YSU.
Parandzem has got great passion for teaching and her career has started in 1992 teaching English for Academic and Specific Purposes, first, in degree programs at Economics department of YSU and in 1993 in the Intensive English Program of AUA. She is specialized in teaching English for Academic Purposes, Communicative English, Business English, English for Accountancy and Finances as well as TOEFL (PBT, CBT, IBT).
Parandzem is an author of a number of publications on teaching methods. She is interested in Theology, Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy), Neurolinguistics and Literature. But her second passion is Educational Psychology.
Ms. Gayane Shiroyan joined AUA in 1996 as an Instructor of English Language at DEP Intensive English Program and later Open Education. Gayane holds a BA and an MA (English and Russian Languages) from GSPI, and an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from AUA. Also, she conducted post-graduate research at The Armenian State Pedagogical University.
Gayane’s research interests lie in the areas of teacher education, course design and promotion of autonomous learning.
Mr. Vigen Vartevanian was born in Iran, educated in England, and is living in Armenia. He studied mechanical engineering at Thames University, UK. For twenty-two years he ran his own business in London. In 2005 decided to move in Armenia with his wife and two children.
Vigen started teaching English at the AUA in 2010, and as he puts it “found it a stimulating and enjoyable experience. Students are motivated, creative and quickly accept new ideas. My only wish is that I had started teaching as soon as I arrived in Armenia.”
Shoghig Keoshkerian believes that the purpose of education is to help all learners reach their full potential in different facets of their lives, thus establishing an organic network, where everyone has the opportunity to grow and thrive.
Shoghig has been teaching English at different schools, colleges and institutes throughout Armenia and elsewhere for a considerably long time to a wide range of age groups. She is an EFL instructor at the American University of Armenia Open Education dealing with local and non-local students. She is also a lecturer at Gevorgyan Theological Seminary. Shoghig holds a dual bachelor’s degree in English and Engineering and a master’s degree MA in TEFL Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the American University of Armenia AUA.
She has been awarded a certificate of Teaching Excellence and Achievement from both Claremont Graduate University in California and The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in Washington DC.
Her miscellaneous interests include implementing innovative approaches to learning and assessment, educational leadership and learner variability. In addition, designing language courses and enticing the love of learning for all ages, is of utmost importance to her. She has presented a number of those courses and research projects in numerous leading international conferences around the world. She is also an ambassador of educational equity and a member of Alumni Advisory Council in Teach for Armenia. Besides, she is a Change Agent-Teacher Active Group facilitator in British Council Armenia.
Having discovered her true passion in life, Shoghig highlights Margaret E. Sangster’s quote “No one should teach who is not in love with teaching”. For her, teaching is a lifelong learning process of learning about new philosophies, new strategies and embracing the diversity of ideas in the world, which helps fuel innovation and generate creativity.
Ms. Naira Smbatyan has been teaching at AUA Open Education since 2008. She completed TEFL Certificate Program at AUA in 2003. In 2005, she earned her MA degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language at AUA. The topic of her MA thesis was teachers’ and students’ perceptions of language assessment in Armenian schools. Also, she got a postgraduate education (ABD) in General and Comparative Linguistics at the European University.
Naira worked as a high school teacher/ supervisor for the University of Nebraska, Lincoln (UNL) via Distance Learning in 2005. In 2006, she started teaching English for Academic Purposes at the European University. In addition, she got interested in teaching English for Specific Purposes (Law / International Relations). Naira is the author of the textbook “The Language of Politics through Political Speeches” intended for students of the faculty of International Relations.

Positive teacher-student and student-student interactions are of major importance for creating a friendly and relaxing atmosphere in the classroom. Ms. Anahit Avetisyan, has significant professional experience in teaching Eastern Armenian at all levels to students from throughout the world. She is a professor of Eastern Armenian language studies at Yerevan State Medical University, is teaching Eastern Armenian at American University of Armenia Open Education and has tutored many foreign professionals and Diaspora Armenians at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels.
Anahit has a degree in Armenian Philology from Yerevan State University, and is the author of one of the principal books used in Eastern Armenian language instruction today, the critically acclaimed “Eastern Armenian Comprehensive Self-Study language course,” first published in 2008, with a second edition in 2014.
Arpi Karapetyan is the Founder and Managing Partner of Cascade People & Business (www.cascade.am). Besides she is a Chairman of Armenian HR Association (www.hrclub.am) and the initiator of Regional HR Conference. She is an Internationally Certified HR Professional (SPHRi, SCP), Internationally Certified Coach (ECC, ACSTH), trainer and consultant. Arpi has PhD in Social Psychology. Artak is a soft skills trainer at the American University of Armenia Open Education. Also, Artak was an expert/trainer for EastInvest2 project (Eurochambres, EU). Besides, Artak is a freelance trainer for EBRD (European Bank of Reconstruction and Development) within WiB (Women in Business) training. Also, Artak is a CYD (Community and Youth Development) Technical Trainer at U.S. Peace Corps Armenia. Ms. Astghik Sahakyan is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®), an international expert on project management and procurement.
She is a consultant with many years of experience and a qualified trainer. Her area of concentration includes consultancy for large and complex projects. She provides guidance to various stakeholders during all project phases, starting from initiation up to closing.
Astghik has worked for the largest highway project in Armenia and has led procurement processes of more than US $300 million. Astghik has authored several research studies and assessments in the fields of project management and procurement.
Astghik is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI®).
Astghik Sargsian has been working as a writer for more than 10 years. She has been writing for national and foreign newspapers and websites (Hraparak daily, The Armenian Reporter (New York), Euractive European media network) and is the winner of awards for online writing granted by the British Council, the Eurasian Partnership Foundation and the Public Journalism Club. Astghik Sargsian has been teaching writing skills for 8 years and is working towards a Ph.D. in Creative Writing at CLU, New York.
Diana Avetyan is a business consultant and trainer in management, marketing, digital marketing, sales, and tourism and hospitality services. She is currently the founder of a company specializing in business consulting and training services. She holds an MBA from the American University of Armenia with her major in marketing. For over 15 years she worked at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) responsible for private sector growth and competitiveness portfolio, with a particular focus on tourism and information technologies.
Ms. Gyulen Sahakyan, has over thirty-five years of experience in teaching French Language. She has participated in a number of seminars targeting innovative techniques of teaching as well as has presented and shared best practices “Noveau Sans Frontiere” international program teaching principles during “Week of Francofone” in Lebanon, Beirut. Her work experience includes teaching French language at school as well as at “.GIIA-Groupement Interprofessionnel International Armenian” Organization.
Gyulen has developed and used novel techniques in vocabulary and grammar introduction. She has a degree from the Faculty of Philology from Yerevan State University.
Mr. Hovhannes Minasyan is an experienced project management professional and consultant with main focus on e-Government, information and communication technologies. In close cooperation with international organizations, global corporations and state authorities he has successfully directed and managed numerous national level e-Government and telecom projects. He has also implemented a number of projects related to the introduction of new products and services, and organizational change. His portfolio includes implementation of the Integrated Health Information System of Armenia (eHealth), modernization of Biometric Identification System of Armenia, launch of Mobile-ID Authentication system.
Mr. Minasyan has technical academic background and managerial professional experience, which have prepared him well to understand and solve complex operational, technical and development issues. Mr. Minasyan is a member of the Project Management Institute and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP.) Currently he serves as a PMI Armenia Chapter Liaison to the PMI Educational Foundation. Also, he has experience in community and pro bono work, volunteering for several causes and charity initiatives.
Ms. Irma Tevosyan holds MS in Industrial Engineering and Systems Management from American University of Armenia and MS in Engineering from State Engineering University of Armenia. She started teaching in 2003 at State Engineering University of Armenia, where she lectured “Applied Mechanic” to both local and international students.
Holding second MS, Irma worked for the Government of Republic of Armenia as an Expert at Prime Minister’s Advisor office. She worked on different projects for the different sectors of economy. In 2010 she continued working as an Expert in the Financial- Economic department of Government of Republic of Armenia. In 2000’s she worked as an Expert in Commercial Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communication.
Irma holds a certificate in Environmental Science from American University of Armenia and holds BS from State Engineering University of Armenia. In 2004’s she was a PhD researcher at State Engineering University of Armenia.
Karen Atalyants is an experienced SAT, ACT and GRE Math instructor. Since 2017 over 100 students
successfully passed the tests by preparing for them with Karen. He is actively engaged in creating
curricula for test preparatory courses, training future SAT/ ACT/ GRE trainers, developing brand new
formats for online courses. Additionally, he is an author of a number of video lessons aimed to support

Liana Tadevosyan is marketer with 18 years of work experience both in non-profit as well as private sectors. Presently being the GM of a newly opened hotel in downtown Yerevan (Nova Hotel Yerevan), Liana has an extensive marketing portfolio ranging from the telecom field to banking and from FMCG to hospitality. Moreover, she has massive experience in start-up management and brand establishment and communication, since she has personally been a part of 3 start-up projects in Yerevan.
Lilit Vanesyan has been working in Business Automation, Product management, and marketing for more than 10 years. Last 3 years Lilith’s main focus is to add value to the customers and clients in various industries through the means of empowering software solutions.
Lilith holds a BSc degree in Mathematics and MA in Sociology from Yerevan States University and Social Entrepreneurship Certificate from Oxford University. This course was designed by applying the years of experience providing software solutions to international companies such as Bank of America, Moody’s Analytics, Kantar, Ipsos, Johnson & Johnson and many more.

Margarit Marukyan is an experienced project manager with extensive experience in both waterfall and agile projects. Currently she works at UCRAFT as a Product Owner. Her responsibilities at her current job include organizing Scrum/Kanban procedures and working closely with stakeholders for the development and implementation of product roadmap, definition of scope etc. She has huge experience in project proposal writing as well and her projects included a large set of subject areas from development of education research and capacity building to engineering and IT projects. She has been a Chevening scholarship holder and studied MA Educational Leadership at the University of Manchester (UK) in 2018. She has participated in several conferences, training, and professional development programs both in Armenia and abroad (UK, Germany, France, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, etc). Margarit is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) since 2017.
Naira Ter-Poghosyan has over 20 years of experience teaching Russian Language and Literature. Ms. Ter-Poghosyan has participated in a number of projects organized by State Institute of Russian Language after Pushkin, High School of Economics, National Institute of Education, got certified by Russian Educational and Methodological Center of Russian Language in Armenia. Her previous work experience includes teaching at school as well as translating and editing articles. She has pursued her degree from the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature of Yerevan State University.
Seda Vardanyan is an experienced professional with 13+ years of working in the area of managerial, financial accounting and tax consulting. She has worked in consulting, auditing and finance fields at local companies, as well as PwC Hungary, General Electric. While doing her MBA at the Central European University (CEU) Seda spent one month visiting a number of innovative organization based in New York City, to complete an individual project on general management, leadership and financial control. Besides professional achievement, she did her research assistantship on the topics of “Directionality of Innovation of Armenia”.
Along with her ACCA and MBA she recently certified as a CEFE Trainer (Competency Based Economies through Formation of Entrepreneurs), a hands-on, interactive a visual methodology used in situational business games.
Sona Matinyan is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) with an academic background on public administration and managerial professional experience. Sona serves as a Vice President and Board Member of the PMI Armenia Chapter and is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI®).
She is an international expert on project management with many years of experience in different fields ranging from culture to construction both in local/foreign markets, and co-founder of project management company specialized in project implementation and consulting for large-scale projects.
Sona provides guidance and empowers project management teams within private sector organizations as a coach in residence.
