Leading people and organizations

About the course

The course exposes participants to key types, concepts, and aspects of leadership and strengthens understanding of the organizational dynamic and behavior. Participants will learn principles, skills, and competencies required for leading people and organizations that may overlap but are different from those required for management. They will learn how to lead people and organizations across, up and down, independently of the formal position. They will improve their ability to act as transformational change agents, exercise agile leadership during crises and disruptions, and manage time, stress, and energy. They will be able to identify toxic and dark aspects of leadership and learn how to avoid and tackle them. They will be expected to identify their own style of leadership and will be required to elaborate a leadership development plan at the end of the course.

The teaching style will be practical and interactive, with participants encouraged and expected to fully participate along with the instructor and teammates. Sessions will be divided between interactive lectures and group working sessions. Lectures will offer an overview of the key theories and concepts, alongside a critical perspective and tailored to the current context and environment. The interactive nature of lectures, group sessions, and final presentations will give participants the opportunity to ask questions and express opinions and to practice leadership skills in a safe environment.
