Certificate in Banking and Finance

The Banking and Finance certificate program aims at creating a quality workforce to increase employability for the financial sector through accessible, hands-on, comprehensive financial skills development educational program design and delivery.

The program includes the following 5 courses:

1.Banking Legislation and Regulations (30 hours)

This course is elaborated for providing knowledge on Banking legislation and regulations. The course provides a general overview about the main legal statements, regulating the banking activities. In this course participants will gain knowledge on main requirements in banking legislation and regulations. All elements of those regulations will be studied with practical tips and examples from nowadays financial institutions’ environment. More specifically, participants will get knowledge on banking licensing and registration, regulation of the banking activities, prudential and other economic standards of banking, regulations for combating money laundering and terrorism financing, rules of business conduct of financial institutions, etc.

2.Customer Service & Sales (30 hours)

The course presents the main ideas of Sales and Customer Service. The core of the class is to explain how to maximize sales and improve  customer service quality. The instructor will highlight how these two notions are interconnected and how better customer service may improve sales. Conversely, we will elaborate on how the shortcomings in customer service and customer’s dissatisfaction may lower the volume of the sales.

3.Banks Internal Functions (24 hours)

In this course participants will get perception and knowledge on the activities in different departments of a bank, will learn to analyze and make basic decisions in the course of those departments’ actions. More specifically, participants will get an understanding of banks Corporate Governance, functions of Anti-money laundering department, Financial department, Risk Management department, Business Analysis, Working Capital Management, Debt Collection department, etc. The mentioned functions will be studied with practical tips and case studies indicating how to apply them in today's financial environment.

4.Managing Personal Finances (8 hours)

This course provides practical approaches and strategies to managing personal finances. Key personal financial management concepts and objectives will be the foundation for class lectures and discussions, along with individual hands-on exercises and activities. This course is intended for all individuals who are keen to learn more about improving their skills and better managing their personal financial situation. The skills and tools acquired can be used in everyday life by students, young professionals, private and public sector employees, junior employees of financial institutions, volunteers serving in NGOs, stay at home moms, self employed business owners, entrepreneurs, newly married couples.

5.Career Advancement (14 hours)

This course is comprised of three sub-courses which are the following
a- Powerful reporting in Microsoft Excel
b- CV and cover letter
c- Career planning and successful negotiation skills
